    Textured Paint Frequently Asked Questions

How can I control the coarseness of the textured effect?

Achieving the specific texture you desire is largely a matter of technique and equipment settings. By adjusting your spray gun nozzle size, the fluid pressure, and the distance from the substrate, you can manipulate the final finish. A smaller nozzle and lower pressure often result in a fine grain, while a larger nozzle and increased pressure can produce a more pronounced, coarse pearl or spatter effect. We recommend performing a test spray on a scrap piece of material to fine tune your settings before applying to your final project.

Are textured paints durable enough for outdoor or high traffic use?

Yes, the textured paints in our collection are engineered for demanding environments. Once fully cured, they form a tough, flexible film that stands up exceptionally well to the wear and tear of touring audio gear, industrial vibrations, and general day to day handling. Unlike delicate automotive topcoats, these finishes are designed specifically to protect the substrate from physical abrasion, ensuring that your equipment maintains a professional appearance even after years of active service.

Do I need specialised equipment to apply textured finishes?

While some textures can be achieved with specific spray set ups, it is not always necessary to have an overly complex system. Most professional textured coatings perform best when applied with a standard gravity feed spray gun using a larger nozzle, such as 1.8mm or 2.0mm, to accommodate the higher viscosity of these paints. This allows you to build up the necessary film thickness to create the texture without the product becoming too thin or losing its structural integrity.
