Mipa P 96 Anti-Rust Body Filler & Finishing Putty is a specialized two-component body filler and finishing putty that offers high corrosion protection directly on metal substrates. Engineered to eliminate the step of applying an anti-corrosive primer on bare steel sheets before filling, it streamlines repair processes while providing exceptional rust resistance making it particularly valuable for classic car restorations and high-protection bodywork.  

Application & Processing Guidelines

Substrate Preparation:

Clean, dry, and degrease the entire surface thoroughly with Mipa Silikonentferner before every stage.  

Sand surfaces slightly. Remove any uncured old paintwork or priming coats.  

De-rust defective spots to bare metal and dry sand using P 80/150 paper.  

Incompatibility: Do not apply over thermoplastic or acid-based products (Reaktionsprimer).  

Non-Ferrous Metals & Vintage Restorations: While P 96 provides high anti-rust protection on bare metal, applying a priming coat of Mipa EP-Primer-Surfacer first can still be performed on non-ferrous substrates (e.g., aluminium, galvanised surfaces) or vintage restorations for optimal adhesion and maximum corrosion protection.  

Mixing: Thoroughly mix 100 parts by weight of Mipa P 96 with 2 parts by weight of Mipa Härter P. Do not exceed 3% hardener, as under- or over-dosage can cause spotting in the final paint layers.  

Processing Conditions: Apply at temperatures from +10 °C up to 80% relative air humidity. (Polyester fillers will stop curing below +10 °C).  

Sanding

Body filler must only be dry sanded.
Initial dry sanding: P 150/240 grit paper.  
Final dry sanding to a matt finish: P 240/360 grit paper prior to applying surfacer/primer. 

Isolation: Do not apply topcoats directly over the filler without isolating the surface with a Mipa 1K or 2K filler primer.
