Mipa P 27 Crystal Transparent Body Filler & Putty is a specialized transparent PE filler specifically developed to level pores, voids, and surface irregularities in visible carbon fibre composites and timber. By filling surface imperfections directly, it eliminates the need to apply multiple thick clearcoat layers with tedious intermediate sanding steps, delivering substantial labour and cost savings while preserving the pristine weave pattern of clear-coated composite parts.

Application & Processing Guidelines

Surface Pre-Treatment:

Clean carbon fibre thoroughly with Mipa (Silicon Remover) Silikonentferner to eliminate all dirt, oils, and mold-release agents.  

Dry sand carbon surfaces with P 240 to P 400 grit paper (take extreme care not to sand through to the carbon fibre weave layer).  

Blow away sanding dust using oil- and water-free compressed air, then clean again with Mipa (Silicon Remover) Silikonentferner.  

Mixing: Blend 100 parts by weight of Mipa P 27 Crystal with 2% to 3% by weight of Mipa Hardener MEKP. If desired, add up to 10% Mipa PMI pigment paste prior to mixing with hardener.  

Application: Apply directly into carbon weave pores and surface defects using a putty knife or spreader.  

Sanding: Allow to dry for approx. 2 hours at 20 °C (70 °F). Dry intermediate sand with P 220 to P 360, followed by final sanding with P 400 to P 600.  

Overcoating Options:

Direct Clearcoat: Overcoat directly with 2–3 generous coats of Mipa 2K-HS-Carbonic-Clearcoat.  

High-Fill Composite Coating: Apply Mipa P 67 S spray filler over the sanded P 27 prior to topcoating with Mipa 2K-HS-Carbonic-Clearcoat for maximum depth and levelling.
